The sun begins to rise, and the birds start to sing.
I stand atop the mountain,
my heart on the brink
Breath uneven, waiting.
And then, there you are.
Suddenly, everything feels too beautiful.
Every sight,
every sound,
every colour too rich for my eyes.
Can you feel this?
I search your gaze as your hands find my face,
tucking my hair behind my ears,
tracing my jaw with a touch so soft.
My heart hitches
and I feel so complete,
tears brim and fall,
only to be met by your lips.
Then time stands still
as your lips meet mine.
If there were nothing more for me,
ever.
If I had to live with the ache
of never having this again,
I would still be glad
to have felt it once,
and to bathe in the memory
forevermore.
